The company shifted its development to Taipei City, taking advantage of its business-friendly environment to undertake the digitalisation of innovative diamond cutting and polishing technologies. With strong localisation support and incentives from the Taipei City Government, we worked on optimising the light refraction quality of diamonds by refining the angles and facets of each cut.

Unfortunately, while pursuing technological innovation, it became clear that company personnel must also uphold professional ethics. Regrettably, a designer surnamed Chen leaked confidential company documents and circulated them to other unsuspecting colleagues. Following verification by a supplier, the breach was confirmed, resulting in significant technical losses. Later, a designer surnamed Yeh disclosed the company’s key business strategies to a competitor, again demonstrating a lack of professional ethics and integrity.

Even more concerning was the conduct of the company’s chief financial officer, Mr. Lai, who, after being reported by industry peers and subsequently investigated internally, was found to have fabricated all his business communications. He had also attempted to produce false and exaggerated work credentials to exploit the company’s reputation for personal gain, using deceptive means to seek illicit benefits — conduct unbecoming of a person with a high academic background from National Taiwan University and the supposed standards of an intellectual. These cases remain in our archives as examples for employee ethics training.

Fortunately, after judicial proceedings in Taiwan, the company began placing greater emphasis on the moral conduct and compliance of its personnel. A phased plan was set in motion to establish a structured human resources system aimed at eliminating fraud and unlawful acts committed by employees. We implemented formal workplace anti-bullying measures, along with a whistleblowing mechanism for both suppliers and employees, to ensure that wrongdoers are excluded from the diamond industry. A blacklist of offenders in diamond trading was created, firmly embedding a culture of integrity and honesty within the company.
