The company expanded into the Hong Kong market, participating in exhibitions and engaging with some of the world’s top companies. Through these events, I had the good fortune to meet Indian traders and was invited to Mumbai, where I visited the Bharat Diamond Bourse to exchange ideas with Indian diamond merchants. This was followed by an in-depth study tour in India to establish cooperative frameworks.

For the first time, I set foot in Surat, India’s diamond manufacturing hub, to observe and exchange technical knowledge. These experiences yielded significant advancements in independent research and technology, as well as in categorising suppliers and defining their specialisations.

Over time, my stays in India became longer. Through the introduction of local friends, I resided in Surat. As the saying goes, “An expedition brings great rewards” — I began working alongside Indian colleagues, gaining insight into critical aspects of diamond cutting, polishing, and sorting.

While India retains its caste system, I found the Vaishyas to be generally industrious and the Brahmins to be polite and humble. It was a privilege to share in such a remarkable journey in India, one that marked a milestone for Ming Ta in differentiating diamond-related work.
